B.S. in Physics at UC Santa Cruz
M.A. in Physics at UT Austin
My name is Kevin P. Rodriguez, and I hold a B.S. in Physics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and an M.A. in Physics from the University of Texas at Austin, where I also pursued additional PhD studies in phenomenological particle physics. I am an experienced educator with over 10 years of combined tutoring and teaching experience. I have taught math and physics at the Tilden Preparatory School for Independent Learners in Albany, CA, and served as a graduate teaching assistant for a wide variety of introductory and advanced college physics courses at the University of Texas. Prior to my graduate studies, I worked as an undergraduate physics tutor within the UC Learning Support Services system in Santa Cruz.
My teaching experience spans from middle school to college-level courses. At Tilden Preparatory School, I taught a range of math and physics courses to students in grades 6-12, including foundational subjects like Algebra, Geometry, and Physics, as well as advanced courses such as AP Calculus AB/BC and AP Physics 1/2/C. At the University of Texas, I provided instruction for a wide array of college physics courses, facilitating both hands-on and virtual learning in areas ranging from classical mechanics, to electrodynamics, to quantum physics. I have also developed individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with learning differences and created customized curricula to meet diverse educational needs.
My tutoring style emphasizes an investigative and collaborative approach to learning. I firmly believe that with the right encouragement, motivation, and instruction, any student is capable of meeting and exceeding their educational goals. As someone who benefited greatly from the guidance of charismatic and inspirational tutors and professors, I aim to instill that same sense of wonder in my students. My goal as a teacher and tutor is to help students discover the joy in uncovering Nature’s secrets. As Galileo famously said, "Mathematics is the language in which the universe is written," and I strive to make that language accessible and engaging for every learner.
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy experimenting with film photography, playing guitar and piano, dabbling in the visual arts, watching Seinfeld with my cats, and spending time outdoors in the beautiful nature that surrounds the Bay Area.
I can teach/tutor Math and Physics so it's like having 2 tutors in one.
